After
the massive success of the One Plus 3 and One Plus 3T last year, the global brand
launched its new big flagship, which is the One Plus 5 on June
20,2017. Camera has been one of the strengths of One Plus devices, and with
One Plus 5 it will take this to another level by adding dual cameras on the
phone. It launched with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, up to 8 GB RAM, and up to
128 GB of storage , also with top-of-the-line specs and all new design.
With up to 8GB of LPDDR4X
RAM, day to day tasks are snappier than ever, and battery life is better.
You'll have plenty of room for photos, apps, and files with up to 128GB of
onboard storage. And because the One Plus 5 features new dual-lane technology,
overall performance is faster.
One Plus 5 Specifications:
One Plus has now rolled out yet another software update for its One Plus 5 users. The latest Oxygen OS 4.5.5 update brings bug fixes, performance improvements, Wi-Fi connectivity improvements, voice calling improvements, and much more.
One Plus 5 Display and OS:
In a world where QHD has quickly become the standard, and even a few phones have offered 4K displays, OnePlus takes a step backwards by sticking to a “old-fashioned” 1080p 5.5-inch AMOLED panel with a 16:9 resolution. Well, at least it is a step backwards on paper. Despite only being 1080p, the screen looks absolutely gorgeous and is probably the best Full HD panel ever to grace a smartphone. The display offers vibrant colors that are full of contrast and deep blacks. It gets very bright, too, so even direct sunlight isn’t a real issue.
OxygenOS is our operating system built on Android. It's smooth. It's minimalistic. It's refined. The upgrade to OxygenOS 4.5.5 takes care of a handful of remaining bugs, while making improvements to areas like Wi-Fi performance, video recording, battery life and call quality.
The design of One Plus 5 is a bit inspired from iPhone 7 Plus. One Plus 5 wears an aluminum design casing with a matte finish at the back. The top edge is empty, bottom edge got the loud speaker, Type-C port and 3.5 audio port. The left edge has the alert slider and volume rocker, the right edge has the SIM card tray and power button.
One Plus 5 Camera:
OnePlus 5 is also making its first move for the
dual camera setup on the rear where the Verge confirms OnePlus will have a 16MP
Sony lens with f/1.7 aperture and the second camera is 20MP with f/2.6 aperture, and this is the telephoto lens. It
has 2X optical zoom which goes up to 8X using digital zoom. Now it is said that
OnePlus is going the Apple iPhone 7 Plus way with the “standard and telephoto
lens combination,” and this was expected given the kind of photos that were
being shared by the company. There are lots of features including a histogram
to capture pictures better. It includes all the other modes like panorama,
time-lapse, slow motion and Portrait. Also the tag line ‘Focus on what matters’
of OnePlus 5 made it evident that OnePlus 5 would have a portrait mode similar
to the Apple iPhone 7 Plus.
One Plus 5 Storage:
The
OnePlus 5 is powered by 1.9GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and
it comes with 6GB of RAM. The phone packs 64GB of internal storage cannot be
expanded. As far as the cameras are concerned, the OnePlus 5 packs a
20-megapixel primary camera on the rear and a 16-megapixel front shooter for selfies.
One Plus 5 Battery And Performance:
The
battery on the device has a 3,300mAh capacity, and it charges with One Plus’
proprietary Dash Charge technology through the USB Type-C port. One Plus claims
Dash Charge gets you a full day of battery life in 30 minutes of charging.Battery
life is an area One Plus has pressed itself to improve on and the latest model
does not disappoint, even though the stated capacity of its battery is actually
slightly smaller than the 3T. The older model would comfortably last all day
for battery life, however I found myself getting better than a day and a half
on a single charge with the One Plus 5. The company says software
optimisation in the new phone should mean 20 per cent longer battery life. The
new OnePlus is also built around the latest Android 7.0 operating system, which
had slowed the older 3T on its update.
